Terms of Service
Last updated: October 13, 2026
The short version
- These terms are an agreement between you (the parent or guardian) and Bot Cadets.
- Bot Cadets is a free beta. Things may change, break, or pause while we improve it.
- You create the account and are responsible for how your child uses it.
- Our lessons, Bit, and our designs belong to us. Your child's final project belongs to your family.
- Bot Cadets is provided "as is," and our liability is limited as described below.
- California law governs these terms.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to Bot Cadets' website, course, and related services (the "Service"), operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME] ("Bot Cadets," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who can use Bot Cadets
- Accounts are for adults. You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of each child you add.
- Children use Bot Cadets through you. Children ages 8 to 12 may use the course only through a child profile that you create after giving consent. Children may not create their own accounts.
- Location. The beta is offered to families in [AVAILABLE REGIONS, e.g., the United States].
2. The beta
Bot Cadets is currently a free beta.
- The Service is free during the beta. We will not charge you without first telling you the price and getting your agreement.
- Features, lessons, and designs may change, be removed, or have bugs.
- We may pause or end the beta. If we end it, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email when we reasonably can, and you can download your child's data before it is deleted.
- If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Bot Cadets without owing you anything. We will not publicly identify you or your child without your permission.
3. Your account
- Give us accurate information and keep your email address current, since we use it for consent and important notices.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity in your account.
- You may create up to 5 child profiles. Only add children you are the parent or legal guardian of.
- Tell us right away at mrcarterpark@gmail.com if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
4. Your child's use
You are responsible for supervising your child's use of Bot Cadets in a way that fits your family. Please help your child:
- use a nickname instead of their real name, and
- leave personal details (full name, address, school, phone number) out of their final project.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to let anyone using your account:
- create an account for a child who is not yours, or give false consent,
- try to access other users' accounts or data,
- probe, scan, or test the Service for weaknesses, or get around security features, except through responsible disclosure to mrcarterpark@gmail.com,
- use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the Service,
- copy, resell, or redistribute our lessons or content,
- upload or enter content that is unlawful, harmful, or that violates someone else's rights, or
- interfere with the Service or other families' use of it.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. We will tell you why, unless doing so would create a safety or legal risk.
6. About the content
- Bit is scripted. Bit is a character, and all of Bit's lines were written ahead of time by our team. Bot Cadets does not include a live AI chatbot.
- Education, not advice. The course teaches general ideas about how AI works and how to use it safely. AI tools change quickly, and we may not cover every tool or risk. Bot Cadets is not a substitute for your own guidance as a parent.
- Other websites. If we link to outside websites, we do not control them and are not responsible for them.
7. Ownership
- Our content. Bot Cadets, including the lessons, Bit, illustrations, text, software, and logos, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. We give you and your child a personal, non-transferable, revocable permission to use the Service for your family's own learning while these Terms are in effect.
- Your child's work. Your family owns the final-project text your child writes. You give us permission to store and display it to you in your account, only so we can provide the Service. We will not publish it or use it for marketing.
- Trademarks. "Bot Cadets" and Bit's name and look are our marks. Please do not use them without permission.
8. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we must for legal reasons, or if we end the beta. When an account ends, we handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy and Data Retention Policy. Sections 7, 9, 10, 11, and 12 continue after your account ends.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS A BETA AND IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DATA WILL NEVER BE LOST. Please download any work you want to keep.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW:
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, LOST PROFITS, OR LOST OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR [AMOUNT, e.g., $50].
These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, including for liability that cannot be limited under California law.
11. Indemnity
If you break these Terms or the law, or give false consent for a child, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing a claim, please contact us at mrcarterpark@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it informally within 30 days. Any claim that is not resolved will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, and you and we consent to those courts' jurisdiction. Either party may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
14. Other terms
- These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the full agreement between you and us about the Service.
- If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a part of these Terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your account or these Terms. We may transfer them as part of a merger or sale, subject to our Privacy Policy.
